Ervas da Zoé is an independent, family-run Portuguese project founded in 2007 by Maria do Rosário and Henrique, deeply rooted in the rural landscape of the Beira Interior. Born from a love for the countryside and a fascination with aromatic plants, the project seeks to preserve and revive traditional knowledge around the cultivation and use of herbs for both culinary and well-being purposes, while contributing to the vitality of a region affected by rural depopulation.
Certified organic, Ervas da Zoé focuses on the cultivation of aromatic and culinary plants as the core of its production. Around 30 different species are grown and carefully transformed into a wide range of teas, herbal infusions, and plant-based products. Every stage of the process, from sowing and planting to harvesting, drying, storage, and processing, is carried out by hand, with close attention to each plant’s life cycle to ensure quality, integrity, and authenticity.
The project is based in the village of Ladoeiro, in Idanha-a-Nova, between the Naturtejo Geopark and the Tagus International Natural Park, part of UNESCO’s Global Geoparks Network. This territory, rich in biodiversity and wild ecosystems, offers ideal ecological and climatic conditions for producing aromatic plants with intense flavors and aromas.
Guided by principles of social responsibility, environmental sustainability, and economic balance, Ervas da Zoé combines ancestral wisdom with creativity and continuous learning. The result is a body of work that respects nature, values cultural heritage, and offers products with soul, deeply connected to place, tradition, and a slower, more conscious way of living.
